Blanc de Blanc is back, baby! That’s right – the raucous cabaret circus show is back for another run with their Encore season at the quirky Grand Electric in Surry Hills.

If you haven’t seen Blanc de Blanc yet (it’s had runs in Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland to name a few) then what in the world have you been doing??

It’s a raunchy riot of debauchery, with an effervescent cast that delight and enthral. They clearly love what they do, and their energy is infectious. The costumes are beautiful, evoking playful pinups and distinguished gentleman… with a twist.

Some of the pacing was off on opening night – the duo of hosts had one too many comic relief “bits” in between the other acts, and didn’t seem to be able to read the room when they went on too long. The dips in energy were a tad uncomfortable in an otherwise fast-paced show.

The clear standouts were the dazzling aerial and circus-style performances. Any time someone was suspended in the air, balancing things, or spinning hoops, the audience was silent in amazement and anticipation. I wanted more of these!

If you can spring a few extra dollars and want to be right in the action, grab a Ringside VIP table. The Grand Electric is the perfect venue for a show like this, but it’s small and the seating is cramped. If you pay a little extra, you get a table at the front with a much better view (and perhaps a piece of the action too!).
