“A show that begins with poisoned alcohol, and ends with alcohol poisoning!” This is the final ever run of the 27 Club, a show that has been electrifying audiences for 5 years.
An homage to the fated rock stars who died at 27, you’ll be taken on a journey through the music of Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Jimmy Hendrix, Kurt Kobain and Jim Morrison.
This is not a club anyone wants to join, and the concept of dedicating a concert to people who died too young could seem macabre. It’s a sensitive topic, but this show has been carefully put together by artists who clearly love those who have come and gone before. They’re telling their stories with such obvious respect, making sure their legacy endures.
You definitely don’t need to know the songs to appreciate the insane talent of the musicians on stage. Kevin Mitchell, Sarah McLeod, Carla Lippis and Dusty Lee Stephensen are supported by a phenomenal band while they belt out tunes that will undoubtedly get you on your feet. McLeod is an absolute standout.
The open-air venue is a perfect choice for a show like this. If you let your imagination soar, it could be Red Rocks! As the sun sets on what is sure to be a balmy Adelaide evening, you can feel smug in your choice to spend it here.
No matter your taste in music, this is a must-see show for all ages. And it sounds like this could well be your last chance to see it.
